Chon-Mon-I-Case or Shaumonekusse (L’Ietan)
Chon-Mon-I-Case or Shaumonekusse (L’Ietan) as he was known by white men, distinguished himself early on as a daring and successful warrior and a great hunter. The adornment he wears in his portrait demonstrates his hunting skills: the perfectly matched buffalo horns in his headdress and a ring of grizzly bear claws around his neck – two of the most powerful animals on the continent.
Portrait is a 12" x 18" unframed archival print.
