Shin-Ga-Ba-W'ossin

Shin-Ga-Ba-W'ossin, or Image Stone, was the first chief of his band and one of the most influential men in the Chippewa nation.  He and his people summered at the mouth of the St. Mary’s River at the outlet into Lake Superior.  Shin-Ga-Ba-W'ossin was esteemed not only by Indians, but by white men, too, for his deliberate and thoughtful manner and respectfulness.  While the chief was an advocate of peace, his bravery was never questioned.

Portrait is a 12" x 18" unframed archival print.
